I know, I know, it’s been so long since I have posted, but I have been super busy with my pet portrait commissions.
This is my latest piece, he’s called Minstrel and he was such a little cutie to paint.
I used Unison soft pastels for this piece (mainly) and a few pastel pencils for some of the finer details. The background has a subtle gradient to it that helps the portrait to really pop!
Switching over to using the pastels for my portraits has really helped my paintings to develop. Although I will still use whatever media suits the subject best.
Below is a small selection of some of the portraits I worked on with this technique.
How to Book Your Own Pet Portrait
It’s such an easy process, I keep things very simple and you can find out more in depth about booking a pet portrait here, but in a nutshell all I need from you is a deposit and a good reference picture. We’ll have a chat verbally or via email (whichever is preferable to you) and between us we will come up with the perfect composition.
If you want to chat to me via WhatsApp for some more info, do feel free:-
Pet portraits can be such a great gift to give someone too. I have done them for various occasions now, from bringing comfort to a grieving pet owner by way of a memorial portrait or for special occasions like birthdays, Christmas and wedding anniversaries.

My next commission is actually of a donkey, which is then followed by a cat – so I am really looking forward to working on those, it’s not always dogs! Plus, in between, I like to paint other subjects such as flowers. Below is a rose I recently painted, which is quite a large piece. Details of this and my other original paintings can be found over in my shop
